Powell Showing World’s Most Expensive Jewelry Armoire
Armoire with $50,000 in jewels to be shown at High Point

Culver City, California - (March 28, 2008) - In celebration of its leadership in the category, case goods, accent and occasional furniture importer Powell Company will show the world’s most expensive jewelry armoire at the spring High Point Furniture Market next month.

Powell is offering special jewelry packages to retailers to use as customer incentives for overwhelming add-on value, said Sean Slack, executive vice president of merchandising for Powell. Retailers can choose from ten different packages of high-end, fashion-forward jewelry sets in today’s most desirable stones and metals.

To mark the promotion, Powell will be showcasing the world’s most expensive jewelry armoire at market. The top-of-the-line Mayfair jewelry armoire, in a dark chestnut finish with black velvet lining, will be shown handsomely dressed with $50,000 worth of diamond, ruby and white gold jewelry, to celebrate the company’s 40th, or Ruby, anniversary.

“The jewelry armoire is a category with enormous potential for growth, and we’re helping retailers promote the category with these highly desirable jewelry packages,” said Slack. “We are a leader in the category with many different styles and finishes that coordinate with numerous bedroom suites, and we’re hoping to educate the consumer that jewelry armoires are pieces of furniture, not just accessories.”

Retailers can offer special promotions of the Powell jewelry armoires with “free” jewelry packages included at price points from $149 to $499, with an average price of $299. To help with the consumer promotions, Powell will provide full color advertisements to retailers participating in the program, with room for each individual retailer to personalize the ad by simply inserting their logo.

“We’re augmenting the price of the jewelry packages to allow our retailers to use them for these promotions that have enormous high-perceived value to the consumer,” said Slack. “Imagine the consumer excitement when they see an offer of a ‘free’ jewelry package with the purchase of a new jewelry armoire. Some retailers think of jewelry armoires as fourth quarter gift items, but we’re certain this promotion will help prove that they have tremendous sales potential year-round.”

Lawrenceburg, TN-based Massey Wholesale Jewelers is providing the jewelry packages and will drop-ship the jewelry directly to stores and offer further volume discounts. A representative from Massey Jewelers will be on-hand at market to answer questions.

The jewelry packages include ten different styles with fashion-forward design and a variety of stones, including green amethyst and cultured freshwater pearls; copper and Czech glass; crystal and cultured freshwater pearls; Amazonite, Bronzite and cultured freshwater pearls; exotic handcrafted glass beads; cultured freshwater coin pearls; Keishi and crystals; blue topaz; green coral and coco; and black or white cultured freshwater pearls, with retail values from $99 to $189. The items were carefully selected to coordinate with different Powell jewelry armoires.
