Powell Celebrates 40 Years with 40 Weeks of Promotions
From Vegas to High Point Markets, Importer to Offer New Ruby Promotion Each Week

Culver City, California - (March 25, 2008) - On the heels of its incredibly successful LittleMissMatched licensed girls collection, Powell Company will bring a new boys’ group with the same sense of fun and playfulness to High Point Furniture Market this spring.

Mixter Max is an urban teen metal group in silver with blue dimpled drawer fronts and accents in bold shades of green and orange. The group is a mix of modular case pieces and accessory add-ons for storage, study and gaming — the most important factors in today’s tween and teen boys’ lives.

Accessory pieces include storage for CDs and DVDs, a mount for a flat-screen TV, speaker attachment, a basketball frame and net, an iPod dock and cell phone shelf, mesh fabric magazine pockets and dry erase boards -- all of which boys can mix up to make their space their own. Clear glass doors allow light to shine through, and also create a writable surface for personal expression.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the excitement of LittleMissMatched to a boys group,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of national sales for Powell. “LittleMissMatched was our most successful licensed program in Powell’s 40-year history, and we expect Mixter Max to generate the same kind of buzz. Retailers are looking for something that will really capture the attention of tween and teen boys, and we’ve got it.”

LittleMissMatched is a ground-breaking company that began with the wacky but fun idea to sell colorful mismatched socks in odd numbers, and has since expanded to become a true evergreen lifestyle property with licensed lines of sleepwear, swimwear, bedding, gloves, toys and books. Powell’s LittleMissMatched girls group debuted at the October High Point Furniture Market, and is just hitting retail floors now to rave reviews at some of the Top 100 furniture stores.

“The furniture industry has been trying to figure out what tween and teen boys want for years, and now we have the answer — the ability to create their own space and change it around as often as they like, using accessories that speak to their lifestyle,” said Anne Russell, vice president of merchandising for Powell.

Powell will also show several additional new youth beds in High Point, including new introductions for its Dollhouse, Emily and Princess Castle Bunk Bed groups as well as a new HQ Escape bunk, the ultimate retreat for serious gamers.
