Powell to give away laptop computers in Tupelo

Importer will repeat popular Vegas promo tied to stock orders

Culver City, California - (August 15, 2007) - Powell Co. plans to give free laptop computers to customers placing qualified orders at next week’s Tupelo Furniture Market, repeating a promotion it said was a success at the summer Las Vegas Market.

The case goods, accent and occasional furniture importer will award the notebook-style PCs to dealers placing stock orders of $6,000 in Powell’s showroom in Tupelo Building 4.

Tom Liddell, senior vice president of national sales for Powell, said the company was “overwhelmed” by response to the promotion in Las Vegas.

In part, the giveaway is geared to call attention to the company’s Powell Retailers Online program, which uses proprietary technology to give retailers access to Powell information, helping them run their businesses more smoothly.

“I think dealers realize they are not just getting a laptop. It’s having access to real-time information and being able to create additional selling opportunities with their customers that is driving our success. The easier we make doing business for retailers, the more loyal they are to Powell,” said Liddell.

The Tupelo market runs Aug. 22-26.
