POWELL CO. FIRST TO OFFER TURNKEY E-COMMERCE SOLUTION
Manufacturer Boosts Selling Power through Dealer Web sites

Culver City, California - (August 11, 2008) - Case goods, accent, youth and occasional furniture importer Powell Co. demonstrates leadership in the technology arena again as the first furnishings manufacturer to power e-commerce functions for dealers on dealer Web sites.

The Powell Online Warehouse, or PowellPOW, is a turnkey solution for Powell dealers which lack online selling capabilities. Dealers seamlessly link to an e-commerce site that is hosted and maintained by Powell. Consumers see only the retail store brand when surfing the dealer’s Web site.

“Everyone recognizes that Online sales represent a huge opportunity in today’s retail environment, but many independent furniture retailers lack the resources to initiate e-commerce functionality on their own,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of national sales for Powell. “There’s a lot involved in setting up to sell over the Web, so PowellPOW does the dealer’s work for them at no cost or risk.”

From dealer Web sites, their consumers can review and select Powell products for purchase. Delivery options are determined by the dealer and may include direct delivery from Powell’s physical warehouse to the customer’s address, or customer pick-up at the store.

Powell supports the e-commerce function with a dedicated customer service center and toll-free phone line to handle all shipping, returns, damages and will collect taxes on behalf of the dealer. Dealers additionally determine price margins, as long as they meet a minimal advertised price (M.A.P.). Powell supplies monthly sales data detailing the net amount made on all PowellPOW transactions. Dealers may receive profit checks monthly or apply credits to future stock purchases.

The entire PowellPOW package is available to stocking Powell dealers upon request. “It’s absolutely a win-win situation for all involved,” adds Liddell. “The idea is simple the more we can help sell, the more everyone benefits.”

Powell’s consumer Web site, at www.powellcompany.com, also boasts a new feature directing consumers to the nearest stocking dealer stores when they enter a zip code.

PowellPRO was established for Powell dealers in 2007 as an intranet site to streamline business to business interactions including orders, delivery and stock information.

To learn more about the new PowellPRO program, details for qualifying, and how to get started, Powell dealers should contact their sales representatives.
