Powell Incentives Give Retailers a Chance to Connect With
Their Inner Teen

Buyers Can Try Out and Take Home Nintendo Wii, Sharp HDTV in Vegas

Culver City, California - (July 16, 2008) - With kids today spending unprecedented time with technology and new media, sometimes it’s hard to keep up. The things they’re playing with today are not the same as even two years ago, and as a result, the way they spend time in their rooms — and the way they want their rooms to look — is changing.

Powell Co., one of the leading youth furniture manufacturers, is helping dealers to understand today’s youth and how they use their rooms, by combining its successful dealer incentive program with some of today’s hottest consumer electronics — including the hard-to-find Nintendo Wii, the revolutionary new gaming system coveted by kids and adults alike.

At the Las Vegas Furniture Market, July 28 – August 1, Powell will have the über-popular Wii system set up in one of their latest teen bedroom offerings, the HQ Escape, so dealers can try it out and get in touch with their inner teen. Dealers can qualify for giveaways of either the Nintendo Wii or a Sharp high-definition LCD television with orders starting at just $5,000.

“Here at Powell, we really understand today’s kids and the way they spend their time, which is different than it was just a few years ago,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of national sales for Powell. “We’re keeping up with the trends, and developing products that speak to kids today. We think letting dealers try out the Wii will give them a better understanding of what kids’ lives are like these days — how they’re using their space, and how their furniture can fit in with their lifestyles.”

At the Las Vegas Market, dealers will have a chance to try their hand at Wii tennis, boxing, golf or bowling, and really see how teens spend time in their rooms — and why Powell’s HQ Escape is the perfect set-up for the ultimate in gaming. And with qualifying orders, they can take home their very own Wii — straight from Market.

Dealers can also choose to take home the new 19-inch Sharp widescreen high-definition LCD television, which boasts a slim design and small footprint, and is also PC compatible.

“Our dealer incentive program has always generated a lot of excitement, because we’re dedicated to giving dealers innovative new products that they can really use,” said Liddell. “We’re continuing that philosophy this market. The Sharp TV can be used as a television or a monitor, and it’s got a great design that will fit anywhere. And the Wii is such a hot property, and so hard to get your hands on. It makes the perfect addition to a youth department, where it can be set up to entertain the kids while mom and dad shop — although I bet that most dealers will want to take it home once they try it for themselves.”

Youth leader Powell is introducing two new kids collections in Vegas: Dakota, a western-themed pine group, and Puzzle, a vibrant multi-colored MDF group.

The company is also debuting its innovative new PowellKids Gallery concept, designed by Connie Post, which will be set up for dealers to preview at market.
